JVC MP-XV941

Homepage: Specification

JVC MP-XV941

Mark: Very good

Really Great!

  • 8.9 inch "netbook" with internal Multi DVD Burner
  • was manufatured in 2004-2005
  • bought via ebay
  • 512 MB RAM (max 1.256 MB), 40GB HDD (Max 250 GB)
  • Graphic: 1024X600 Intel 855 supported by SNAP in accelarated mode (!), even if you have to choose GENGRADD, but SDD is still working!
  • LAN - RTL 8139 - works fine!
  • WLAN - Intel 2200 - works fine with GENMAC
  • Sound - works graet with UNIAUD 114RC1 (later UNIAUD versions not working! it seems support for Soundmax AC 97 broken)
  • Superbrigth Display
  • USB - working fine! 2 X USBUHCI , 1 X USBEHCI 2.0

still to be figured out: Card Reader and PCMCIA card, will report once ther is progress

Seems not to work: Powermanagement

Did install OS/2 Merlin 4.52 (NOT eComStation), because Warp 4 fitts all my needs and with this! No need to use eComStation with this, it may bring better control of Powermanagement with ACPI but as I discovered ACPI still buggy. So Merlin is a good choice here, stable at least.

This is the Netbook I was looking for for a long time :-)

To audio:

You can use the Soundmax 3.1.9 Driver but because of using the interrupt as the EHCI USB Driver one have to use the SPCIIRQ.SYS Driver. Install the Driver, enable FULL HARDWARE DETECTION in Hardware Manager and add:

BASEDEV=SPCIIRQ.SYS LINK $6B 6

BASEDEV=SPCIIRQ.SYS LINK $61 5

to config.sys. This will change the USB EHCI to IRQ 6 and adress IRQ5 to the Soundmax Audio.

Then install the Sound Driver. Should work for eComStation as well.

Hm, it is better to change soundcard to irq 9, with:

BASEDEV=SPCIIRQ.SYS LINK $61 9

and leave USB EHCI as it is.

Still testing, stay tuned for more :-)

eCS Silver works fine if you choose:

- modern hardware safe mode

- install the sounddriver after installation with the basedev command described above.

Power management is not working.
