Q: ArcaOS Installer boots to UEFI mode only, doesn't boot in CSM mode

A: Arcaos does not decide if it boots in uefi or BIOS mode. The PC does this. Check the bios settings.

ArcaOS 5.1.2, 5.1.1, etc.

Example

e-co, 2026/04/15

* Thinkpad X230

* I have installed Arca 5.1.2 to C:, seems that in CSM mode, OS2LOGO is 16color. no UEFI aux partition.

* Now I want install ArcaOS to D:, same computer. Problem: USB fllash disk with Installer boots in UEFI mode only. and doesn't allow install in CSM mode, asks create UEFI partition.

More attempts to boot:

so, conclusion: can't boot USB flash installer in CSM mode.. it boots in UEFI mode by itself.

  • * AirBoot doesn't allow select, Scanning.. LOAD ERROR!
  • * F12 boot menu - I select USB flash but it immeditaly returns to Boot Menu.

tried one other new of ArcaOS installer USB flash disk - same result tried AOS 5.1.1 - same result.

SOLVED:

  • BIOS => Load optimized params, = reset BIOS setup.
  • It boots USB installer in Legacy mode now!! wow
