AiR-BOOT - History

2009/05/25, Version 1.06

I just released v1.06 there including full GPL source.

  • Improved CHS-LBA access switching

1.03 - 18 Oct 2004 [WARP]
  • Undocumented /4 now supported via OS/2 setaboot
  • NTFS was detected as HPFS on LVMified drives. Now fixed
  • os2.txt contains more information

1.02 - 12 May 2004 [WARP]
  • Imperialismn sucks
  • Being closed source again...
  • LVM Support - Dynamic changing of bootdrive letter, partition names are taken from LVM
  • Matching is now even more forgiving
  • Floppy and Resume-BIOS may be used for default selection and timed boot
  • SETABOOT (OS/2): Small changes
  • SETABOOT (DOS): New utility to control AiR-BOOT under bare DOS
  • Linux kernel support dropped

1.01 - 20 Mar 2003 [WARP]
  • My feelings go to Iraqi civilians
  • License change: If you are or were working indirectly or directly for american (US) government and/or military, then you are NOT allowed to use this software in any case and you are supposed to delete it NOW. Any downloads from .gov are now blocked.
  • Issue with NTFS detected as being HPFS fixed
  • Broken partition table error message instead of "LOAD ERROR" on startup
  • Minor changes
  • This will be the last version in the near future, Goodbye

1.00 - 7 Jan 2003 [WARP]

  • Official Release
  • New option to enforce exclusive LBA API usage for some really bad BIOSes
  • Bad BIOS INT 10h compatibility fix

0.94b - 27 Nov 2002 [RC-4]

  • Typo in developer information fixed

0.93b - 21 Sep 2002 [RC-3]

  • Release Candidate 3
  • In some cases INT13X-signature wasn't written, so OS/2 / eCS didn't boot, when partition was above 8 GB.
  • Matching mechanism changed internally
  • Documentation got split up
  • Developer information included

0.92b - 02 Aug 2002 [RC-2]

  • Release Candidate 2

0.28b - 26 Apr 2002 [BETA]

  • Localized versions in Dutch, German, French & Italian (Thanx to the translators)
  • Installer improvements (version and language display)
  • Option for CD-ROM / ZIP / Network to resume boot process via BIOS
  • OS/2 / eCS boot >8GB fix, IBM has their own way to detect Int13 Extensions
  • Workaround against Partition Magic's *WRONG* way of filling out Begin-CHS on LBA partitions resulting in AiR-BOOT ignoring those. :-(
  • A primary partition is marked active, even if none is booted to make some BIOSes happy

  • Changed Notice within AiR-BOOT Setup to match actual terms and conditions, that are: AiR-BOOT is free-of-charge for anyone *not* using it commercially *nor* distributing it for any amount of money in *any* form *nor* including it in *any* commercial

0.26b - 12 Jan 2002 [BETA]
