 | Ted informed us:
It seems that I have found an antidote to the excessive CPU useage on my ThinkPad T23. If I boot up and observe CPU usage in the 60 to 80% range and print a page from Mozilla on my Canon i850 printer using the IBM omnien driver, the CPU usage immediately drops to ~1.3%. On the advice of another T23 owner, I changed the setting in System Setup => Power => Properties to APM BIOS support from APM BIOS and eCS support, the problem goes away. The "fix" survives a reboot. Since I normally enter suspend from <Fn-F4> and have set battery state update to 2 minutes, I appear to have lost nothing significant from the change.
Further, DVD writing has improved greatly. This morning I wrote four files totalling ~2.9GB to a DVD-R without problems. The first file to be written was 1.6GB followed by the three smaller files. It would seem there is a problem that occurrs on the T23 but on few, if any, other machines. I must admit surprise at the "equivalence" between printing and power features!

 | All installs of eCS 1.2 has worked well after downloading the necessary drivers from IBMs pages ([url])
except for the WireLess connectiivity. The only card that installed without an err. msg. was the IBM High Rate Wireless LAN PC Card-128 (shipped with eCS 1.2), but when running WiFi state, it comes up with the msg. "No card detected". Anyone with any suggestion? |

 | eCS 12R works excellent in all aspects after some tuning and BIOS update (jan 07) - including sleep mode, sound and wireless. |
