Let's update the list of companies working on eComStation market. Inform us which companies should be removed from the list (company is "dead" if it didn't released updates of software in the last three monthes)
One more time, if you are developing solutions based on eComStation or IBM OS/2 Warp, and you want protect your software from copy, you need HASP HL USB security key. Aladdin company (http://www.aladdin.com) can implement support for HASP HL security keys for eComStation if there is demand. Do you need support of HASP HL security keys in eComStation? Please, post contact information (site of your company, annual demand). (Don't forget input anti-spam 6-digits CODE:)
There are updates in the list of solutions:
- The largest interactive FM radio stations in Russia are using technology based on eComStation. Here is the overview on russian language: Interactive FM radiostations in Russia. 'Interactive' means that listeners are sending SMS/email/phone messages to RadioDJ and his guests. SMSRC32 and eComStation are used to gather & process such SMS messages.
- WS IT-Service and Logic Consult GmbH are developing PBX on eComStation (Private Branch eXchange) - private phone network of arbitrary size with a central controlling unit.
As you can see, eComStation and OS/2 Warp are used in Russia only, no information about solutions developed by european or american companies.

The fourth quarter is the most strenuous. Seems that we survived it. Large projects were debugged, new utilities created. We presented our solutions at Warpstock Europe 2006 (7 appearances) and the main goal today is withstand users pressure.
eCo Software laboratory (aka #ecolabs)
Warpstock Europe 2006
The presentations were prepared by large group of developers and consultants from other teams.
- Developers of native eComStation software vote for evolutionary way of the operating system development. The main idea of the Evolutionary Sprint (aka ES-Way): "Let's create more original software for eCS users, then promote it on other markets to attract new users". Read the introduction to ES-way: "Community perspectives"
- "eComStation is ready for modern notebooks and desktops" - report about current status of ACPI subsystem. Thanks to ACPI, we can use modern Core 2 Duo, AMD X2 notebooks and desktops, setup IRQs, control power consumption. The secret purpose of ACPI driver is reanimate sleepy developers of device drivers, they are updating own drivers for compatilbity with new generation of eComStation.
- "Modern eComStation Desktop" - we demonstrated new WorkPlace Shell extenders and applications which bring life to the desktop (eSchemes, eSchemes Deluxe, Personal Cards Manager, Central Remote Control, USB Dock, etc)
Disk utilities
Download repacked JUne (contains updated translations: Italian, Danish, etc). JRescuer (JUne) best-seller is aimed to unerase files from JFS volume, recover files from damaged JFS volume. Read more about modern features of JFS.IFS for eComStation
USB applications
USB Dock 1.7 is released. Whatsnew: more NLS resources, more devices added to database.

ACPI drivers
To accelerate the final stage of ACPI development, we invite testers to ecolabs irc-channel. The testing may require 30 minutes or 1 month x 2 hours per day.
- ACPI 2.15 was released. Please read all documentation and FAQs again. There are many notes for users which want run eComStation on multiprocessor computers. Now you can run SMP machine with SATA controller without extra efforts (simply enable snooper with default acpi.cfg, acpi.psd /SMP), Whatsnew: Multiprocessor Dell notebooks are working with ACPI now, fixes for embedded controller support, throttling, OEMHLP$ driver (i.e. the development of eComStation kernel continues)
- New APM.ADD (1.7), Whatsnew: fixed external battery call, Check brightness control and other events, acpidaemon fixes.

Please pay attention to our new products for eComStation!
The fall is dedicated to creation of end-user applications based on modules and libraries prepared during 2006.
Updated ACPI drivers
As you know, eComStation has modern ACPI subsystem now. ACPI offers new opportunities to developers and makes developers update their device drivers.
Usually users need two auxiliary drivers:
APM.ADD 1.5 (requires ACPI 2.12) - Power management for notebooks and desktops
- fixed throttling (for SMP only), fixed semaphore event, fixed power detect
- AcpiDaemon is improved
- Read tester.doc to test the driver; read troubleshooting.doc to solve troubles
ACPI snooper (requires ACPI 2.12)
- The snooper is aimed to manage IRQs, setup ACPI virtual machine on start.
- Read tester.doc to test the driver; read troubleshooting.doc to solve troubles
- Don't remove all snoopers from snoop.lst (keep acpisnp.snp and ibmkbd.snp) else Enable full hardware detect is ignored.
Note: If you are developing a program to control UPS devices, you can integrate it into eComStation power management subsystem.
New versions of eSchemes
New beta-versions of eSchemes are released often. Current version: 1.35
New product! eSchemes Deluxe
Screenshot of eSchemes Deluxe
Internet utilities
Disk utilities
- Please, don't use JFS filesystem with old harddisks. New bad sectors may cause loss of data;
- Use UPS to protect against power leaps;
- Don't fill JFS volume completely. Always keep freespace (10% of total volume size);
If you don't follow this simple instructions then purchase JUne - utility to rescue/undelete data from JFS volumes.
Office applications
Personal Cards Manager, new beta-version - it's not only address book but the only application to bring photos of your friends and relatives to desktop.
Screenshot of Personal Cards Manager
Students support
To create unique technologies and software, we should attract more students and engineers to eComStation.
- gDiagramm v0.07 builds graphs from CVS-file (2Gb, 50 millions of lines)
- Do you have self-made applications for students (computer science, mathematical, chemical)? We are interested gather this files.
eCo Software support service
Collaboration with other developers
- Robert Lalla created very useful addon to ACPI snooper. His driver removes Exclusive flag from High IRQs. In result, we have more happy users with working SMP notebooks and desktops.
- Dmitry Frolov continues to release USBCALLS updates. Visit the homepage of froloff.
- Do you need widescreen modes on ATI X1600 videoadapter? Robert Lalla created a driver to activate this modes. Contact us and join the testing!

eComStation users and developers are working like one large corporation. To achieve common success everyone should work well on own place and demand the same from "neighbouring" users and developers.
The july and august were dedicated to development of drivers and WPS applications. Many utilities was updated.
Updated ACPI drivers
- Notes for ACPI testers:
- (Temporary restriction): If ACPI driver was working fine for some monthes but doesn't boot anymore than you should remove dust from your PC (the problem happens because of high load on CPU when ACPI starts to work; will be fixed in the future)
- Auxiliary drivers for ACPI users are separated to acpi-drivers.zip (PSCOM.SYS, RESOURCE.SYS)
- Please, pay attention to new installation instructions.
